Chicken Mushroom Soup with Mee Suah (Somen)

When my sister and her family were here this past week, I decided to make Chicken Mushroom Soup, a celebratory staple in our family. Instead of rice, the soup was served with mee suah and hard-boiled eggs – this dish brought back a lot of wonderful memories! For the recipe, check out my Chicken Mushroom Soup post. Enjoy!

  1. Hi Chris,

This looks yummy! As far as I could remember, every visit to Sibu, we had this special Foochow specialty. We were never bored with this mee suah chicken shiitake soup as my my sis-in-law makes one of the best!
BTW what kind of noodle did you use here? Gotta make this soon with my slow cooker :-)
Fantastic. Thanks for reminding me about this recipe :-D

    1. Glad you like this dish too. Being half Foochow, I grew up with this dish. :D Instead of hand-made mee suah which can be found easily in Sibu, I use Japanese Somen. HTH.

  2. I’m going to start coming over to your house for dinner. You have a lot more interesting foods than we do. And they all look so good in your pictures.

    1. Thanks, Lisa. Will have you over one of these days. :D

  3. Wow, It looks very delicious! Guess home cooked food is always the best =)

    1. I agree…home-cooked food is always the best. Thanks for dropping by. :D
