I love the Time For Kids website and use it often as one of my homeschooling resources. This worksheet – For the Birds, from which we obtained the steps to make the pinecone bird feeder comes from there. Alex enjoyed this activity tremendously last Spring, but I don’t think we fed a lot of birds with these feeders because when we checked on them the next day, the pinecones were totally gone! The branches on which they were tied were bent as well. We think some bigger animals got to them, maybe raccoons or even deer. We’ll be sure to tie these tasty treats higher up in the tree this year, and on sturdier branches too.
