Fried Stuffed Tofu and Chicken Fritters

Today, I made fried stuffed tofu and chicken fritters. The stuffing is the exact same mixture I use to make the chicken fritters, so whatever you have left after filling the tofu, just fry it up (in fact, I typically double the filling so I can make more chicken fritters!). Yum! 😁

2 (19 oz) packets firm tofu (I use House Foods brand – each pack has 4 pre-cut pieces)
1 pound ground chicken
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon white pepper
1/4 cup all purpose flour
1 large egg

Cut each piece of tofu in half diagonally, creating 16 pieces total. Place them on 3 layers of paper towel (to absorb excess water) while making the stuffing. To make the stuffing, mix ground chicken, salt, white pepper, flour, and egg in a medium bowl. Then, cut a slit in each tofu on the diagonal end to create a pocket (be careful not to cut through to the other sides) and gently stuff meat mixture in the slit (keep a small bowl of water on the side to wet your fingers, which would keep the meat from sticking to them). Deep fry until crispy and cooked through. Fry leftover stuffing by gently dropping spoonfuls of them into the hot oil. Cook fritters until they are golden brown and cooked through. Serve both items with chili sauce.
