Whole Wheat Pizza

Ahhh…looking at these pictures bring back extremely fond and delicious memories. We welcomed the New Year with homemade pizza. I have to admit that it is time-consuming and tiring to make your own pizza as compared to just having them delivered (ready-to-eat) but it is soooo… FUN! Don’t believe me? Just check out the pictures below – Alex was having a blast prepping and putting the pizza together. :) This time around, I decided to try the Whole Wheat Pizza Dough recipe from The America’s Test Kitchen Family Baking Book. Hubby and I give it four :) thumbs up! Note: I had used the Basic Pizza Dough recipe from the same cookbook to make Grilled Pizza last Summer (which I haven’t gotten around to posting it yet..maybe this coming Summer) and it turned out great. However, I didn’t like it as much when I used the same recipe and baked the pizza in the oven. I much prefer this whole wheat dough or the pan pizza dough for oven-baked pizza.

Dough
2 cups whole wheat flour
2-2¼ cups bread flour
1 envelope (2¼ teaspoons) instant or rapid-rise yeast
1½ teaspoons salt
2 tablespoons olive oil
1½ cups warm water (110 degrees)

Sauce (This simple sauce recipe from the same cookbook continues to be my favorite)
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
Salt and pepper
