Chicken Mushroom Soup with Mee Suah (Somen)

Wanted to make something special for our New Year’s Eve meal but at the same time, nothing too elaborate (since I wanted to spend time with Keith and Alex more than anything), I decided to make our usual celebratory dish – chicken mushroom soup and mee suah. Not only does it smell/taste like Chinese New […]

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! Yikes, I’ve been so neglectful of my blog…..I will try to do better. ❤️ P.S. If you have a Facebook or Instagram account, look me (Simple Pleasures in our Lives) up – I do a better job of keeping up with them when I lack time. :)

Peanut Pancakes

So delicious! Ugh, I can’t wait to eat the leftovers today. 😂 Make the chicken rice: 1-1/4 cups (uncooked) jasmine rice, […]

Chagrin Falls

It had been a while since we went to Chagrin Falls. Friday evening was perfect for a slow walk around the village, admiring the flowers, houses, and waterfalls. ❤️

Nasi Lemak (Coconut Rice) and Crispy Anchovies

On our last day of vacation, I made nasi lemak for lunch. It would have been a time-consuming dish to put together if I had to make the sambal from scratch but thankfully, we had managed to find jarred nasi lemak sambal (Tean’s Gourmet) a few months back and of course, I stocked up. 😬 […]
