Cleveland Botanical Garden

Visited Cleveland Botanical Garden today – beautiful and oh so creative Christmas tree and gingerbread house displays. Love the variety of exotic plants, butterflies, birds, and more in the Glasshouse as well! Truly a fantastic place to visit if you are in the area.

Cranberry and Almond Citrus Biscotti

Over the years, I have tried a variety of biscotti recipes and this is the one I always come back to. The biscotti itself is hard (as it should be) but not rock hard and hence, can be indulged as is, which is something I love to do. At the same time, it softens wonderfully […]

Anchovy Sambal (Sambal Ikan Bilis)

Warning! This recipe is not for the faint-hearted! Let me be frank – if I have access to decent anchovy sambal (i.e. if I’m in Malaysia), I will not be toiling over the stove for hours to produce this indescribable spicy deliciousness. :) Today, I will be making Nasi Lemak, Malaysia’s national dish, of which […]

Malaysian Honeycomb Cake/Beehive Cake

This is one of my favorite cakes from childhood! Named after its honeycomb-like patterns, it has two distinct layers – the top is light and tender while the bottom has a texture similar to a sponge cake. The flavor is reminiscent of warm, delicious butterscotch and is surprisingly not too sweet – we absolutely love […]
