Making Cookies

Last Thursday, I decided to take a break from our regular homeschooling lessons and had a “Home Economics” class instead. Alex was absolutely happy about this because he got to do one of his favorite things – baking, while learning at the same time. We managed to incorporate reading, measurement, and math in our baking session, and had yummy results to show for it. What more could one ask for?

Getting ready
The first on our list is Oatmeal Cranberry Cookies
Whisking the dry ingredients
Adding dry ingredients into the mixer
Cookie batter is scooped out – ready for the oven
Setting timer on the oven
While waiting, we’ll make our second cookie – Molasses Cookies
Getting the ingredients
Mixing dry ingredients together
Mixing in molasses
Scooping out cookie dough
Flattening the dough with sugar-coated glass
Cookies are all ready for the oven, Mommy
Success – yummy Oatmeal Cranberry Cookies
Hmm…not so successful with this one. Will try again next time.

  1. It is good to start your kids since young and even better if they are keen & interested , my girl who is 14 this year developed the interest since last year eversince she learnt home-economics in school and with a month long school vacation starting tomorrow , she is motivated to bake as much as she can.

  2. Super! I’m looking forward to summer vacation as well. Hopefully, we’ll have more time to bake…and play outside. :)
